DYSLEXIA ASSESSMENT AND SUPPORT SERVICES
As an experienced Assessor and Specialist Teacher I provide the following Professional Specialist Dyslexia Assessment and Support services in Leicestershire and the surrounding areas of East Midlands, as well as online :
FULL DIAGNOSTIC DYSLEXIA ASSESSMENTS
(SUITABLE FOR DSA) for 8 to 24 years : In-person
This is an in-depth assessment and will provide a detailed learning profile of a pupil/student’s strengths and weaknesses. This will be considered alongside the definition of dyslexia if substantiated.
A written report of 30+ pages will be provided in line with current SASC guidelines (www.sasc.org.uk); this includes description and analysis of specialist and non-specialist tests/checks, which includes assessment of:

Underlying ability

Cognitive Processing

Attainment (reading, writing and spelling)
The report will include recommendations and advice for Quality First Teaching in the educational setting, suggestions for individual support as appropriate, advice regarding access arrangements and suggestions for support at home. These will be tailored to the pupil/student’s individual identified profile of need.
Timing : The assessment process will take approximately 3 hours.
Cost : £550
Where : In-person - I complete assessments throughout Leicestershire and surrounding areas (East Midlands) and will travel to your home or school. I am prepared to travel up to 20 miles for an assessment, anything above this distance would incur an additional charge.

DISABILITY STUDENT ALLOWANCE DSA 18+ YRS
A full diagnostic report with a diagnosis of dyslexia can be used as supportive evidence to apply for a DSA. This will provide you with additional support for your future studies. For further details on DSA visit the Government website: www.gov.uk/disabled-students-allowances-dsas
In-person DYSLEXIA SCREENERS for 6 to 16 Years
A screening test can provide an indication of whether a pupil is at risk of Dyslexia. The Dyslexia Portfolio by GL Assessment will be used and comprises of nine short tests. In addition, a specialist assessment for receptive language will be administered (an indicator for underlying ability). This individual screener provides a generated report that outlines an individual profile of strengths and weaknesses and recommends possible support and intervention strategies. The report will suggest a risk factor for dyslexia: no dyslexia signs, few dyslexia signs, mild dyslexia, moderate dyslexia, or severe dyslexia.
Timing : The screening assessment will take up to 2 hours.

Online DYSLEXIA SCREENER AND PROFILER
for 7 to 16 Years
The online dyslexia screener assesses a broad range of skills that are linked with learning and literacy, and there are total of 10 activities to complete. Following the assessment you will receive a detailed report outlining your results (a risk of dyslexia is indicated), and suggested next steps. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to engage in a 30-minute online session with a specialist, Alyson Dakin, for personalised guidance and support.
Timing : Completion takes approximately 40-50 minutes and supervision will be required.

Where :This screener is entirely digital and can be completed on any desktop computer or laptop.

Process following purchase: Once you have purchased the screener you will be asked to complete an online form because some personal data is required to set up the screener for your use. Once this is completed the screener code and some additional instructions will be sent to you. When the screener has been completed the results will be emailed to you within 48 hours. An opportunity is then available to book a 1-1 (30 minute) online session through Zoom or Google Meet with Alyson to discuss the results and next steps.
SPECIALIST TUITION AND SUPPORT
I tutor and support both primary and secondary pupils in relation to all aspects of literacy. This can include reading, writing and spelling support, as well as help and guidance with homework.
If you are a SENDCO and you would like a bespoke literacy intervention delivering either 1-1 or small group (face to face sessions), please contact me to discuss your needs. These sessions will incorporate pre and post literacy assessments.
Study Skills support is also provide for University students. Not all students qualify for DSA funding, but many would benefit from guidance and support especially through their initial years. Please contact me to discuss this service further if you are interested.

DYSLEXIA DISCOVERY CALL FOR PARENTS :
1-1 ONE HOUR CONSULTATION (Phone/Online)
Are you concerned that your child may have dyslexia? I offer a 1-1 consultation where you can discuss you concerns. I will explain what dyslexia is and dispel the myths. During this session we will discuss ways to help your child make progress. I can offer resources and guidance to help make adjustments for your child. Guidance will also be provided about how to work with school and what you should expect.
